APEL.C

Credit for Your Real World Learning

What is APEL.C?

The Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit (APEL.C) recognises knowledge and skills acquired outside formal education—through work, training, community service, or self-learning—and converts them into academic credits.

This means you don’t have to repeat courses where you already have proven competencies. At Asia e University (AeU), APEL.C offers a structured and transparent pathway to shorten your study duration while recognising the true value of your experience.

Why Choose APEL.C at AeU?

  • Save Time & Money – Avoid duplication of learning and reduce study duration.
  • Inclusive & Flexible – Available to all AeU-registered students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Broad Coverage – Credits can be awarded for all AeU-accredited programmes under MQF.
  • Recognised & Transparent – Fully endorsed by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to all registered AeU students.
  • Applicable to both Malaysian and international learners.
  • Students may apply for APEL.C at any point during their study, ideally at the early stage of programme enrolment.
  • A maximum of 30% of the total programme credits can be awarded through APEL.C.

APEL.C Assessment Process

How Does It Work?
  1. Application – Submit your APEL.C application through the AeU APEL Centre, stating the course(s) you wish to claim credits for.
  2. Advisory Session – Meet with an APEL Advisor who will guide you on requirements and help select the appropriate assessment method.
  3. Assessment Methods
    • Challenge Test – Written examination to test knowledge and competencies equivalent to the course learning outcomes.
    • Portfolio Submission – A collection of documented evidence (career achievements, training, projects) that demonstrates attainment of course learning outcomes.
  4. Evaluation & Decision – Assessors review your performance. If successful, credits are awarded and recorded in your transcript as CT(APEL). If unsuccessful, you continue with the normal course.
  5. Appeal (Optional) – A transparent process is available if you wish to appeal the decision.
